Historic Huguenot Street Abuzz With Summer Interns:  7/11/08

Historic Huguenot Street is pleased to announce that it is hosting five interns this summer. The interns are hard at work with the Public Programs and Collections departments at the organization. Interns include:

  • Angelica Snyder, a 2008 graduate of SUNY New Paltz, has started interning with the Public Programs Department. Angelica, a native of Rockaway Beach, Queens has received her B.A in Sociology from New Paltz and will start her M.S in applied Social Research at CUNY Hunter this August. Snyder is helping to coordinate educational programming this summer, including Archaeology Camp.
  • Kaitlyn Malloy is a senior at The College of Saint Rose in Albany. She will be completing her B.A in Public Communications this December. Kaitlyn, originally from Wallkill, decided to intern at HHS because of the small environment and hands on atmosphere. She is receiving 12 credits this summer and is working with Richard Heyl de Ortiz, Director of Public Programs.
  • Evan Cohn is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and spent the first half of the summer on the Street before he left to start a new job in Miami. He decided to intern at HHS for many reasons, those including the need for a few extra credits and to better understand what his mother, Susan Stessin-Cohn, Archives Specialist at Historic Huguenot Street, does at work each day.
  • Jenn Tucciarone is a student at SUNY New Paltz and is originally from Campbell Hall, New York. Jenn is a history major at New Paltz and will graduate this December. As early as freshman year, she inquired about local internships at historic sites and is excited to begin her summer internship at HHS. With her passion for history, this internship seems to be the perfect fit.
  • Jeff Warren,a New Paltz native, is entering his junior year at Hobart College. After completing an internship at Haviland-Heidgerd Historical Collection at the Elting Memorial Library in New Paltz, Jeff knew his passion was historic preservation. Having grown very close to Historic Huguenot Street, Jeff is interested in learning more about what happens “behind the scenes” on the Street.

In August, interns with REMPART, a French historic preservation organization, will arrive for a two-week stay. This part of an on-going relationship HHS has with REMPART.

Eric Roth, the Executive Director at Historic Huguenot, says the agency is happy and flattered to have so many great interns this summer. “They bring a lot of enthusiasm and energy.”
